sound bath at Bamford

Helpful information

If you're new to Sound Baths then you may not know quite what to expect. Don't be concerned, essentially you just have to lie back and relax. That said, here are some answers to common questions.

How long do sound baths last?
Usually about an hour. Sometimes longer if they are combined with gentle yoga, qigong or another practice.

What should I expect?
Essentially, you'll just need to lie down and relax. Some sound baths are preceded by an active practice, such as yoga, but this will be clearly shown when you sign up for the performance.

What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Many people wear yoga or activewear but everyday joggers and a comfy top is fine. Bring extra layers during the colder months.

Do I need to bring anything?
Most studios have mats, and some will have blankets and bolsters. However, many people like to bring their own cushions and a warm layer or two, especially in the winter months.

What instruments are played during a sound bath?
Most of the time we will be playing Himalayan bowls and Crystal bowls but you'll also hear plenty of other acoustic instruments including chimes and small gongs as the sound bath progresses.

How will I feel during the sound bath?
Most people experience a profound sense of relaxation. Other feelings and emotions vary widely from person to person but may include weightlessness, tingling sensations and visions of many different colours. We welcome anyone who attends to share their experiences with the rest of the group, but there is absolutely no pressure to do so.

Can you play at my studio/venue?
Yes! We're always on the look-out for outstanding venues, especially those that aren't close to those we already perform from. Please email us at hello@pranasanctuary.com and we'll try to make it happen.
